Amanda Foreman

Amanda Foreman is the daughter of Carl Foreman (producer Born Free and co-writer of High Noon and The Bridge On the River Kwai). She was born in London, brought up in California, but educated in England. Afterwards she attended Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University in New York. Since 1991 she has been a researcher at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. In 1993 she was awarded the Henrietta Jex Blake Senior Scholarship. She is a contributor to the Longman Gender in History series, published in 1997, and also to the New Dictionary of Biography.

Amanda Foreman has written for many newspapers, including the Independent, The Times, Sunday Telegraph’ and Daily Express. She currently lives in London and is at work on her new book, an imaginative reconstruction of a conspiracy and double murder during the short peace between England and France in 1802.
